Cedele Bakery Cafe Singapore II

IMG_4174 (FILEminimizer)Who is up for desserts? I’m at Novena now so how about I buy back a few cakes from Cedele and we have tea at my place? Sounds good yah?

I don’t think Cedele cakes are super duper fantastic but they are some of the more affordable bakery for desserts. So I think I could afford to buy a few extra slice! One Red Velvet Cake, one Lemon Meringue Tart and how a good old slice Blueberry Cheesecake too? I can’t recall the price but they were below seven bucks each.
IMG_4171 (FILEminimizer)A long bus ride towards home later and I am thankful the cream and cheese didn’t melt or go out of shape. Then an additional 20 mins worth of photo taking before I gave my tea time partners the green light to eat. I must say the photos turned out pretty good eh?

I tried almost all the cakes Cedele has to offer over the years. I don’t share them all here but my new favourite would be Hummingbird for 2014’s Easter, a two layer banana cake with a layer of pineapple in the middle, cream cheese frosting with dark chocolate coating then topped with pecan nuts. I just like fruity cakes and good choice using pineapples in cake-making is definitely something I don’t see in many Singapore cafes.
IMG_4167 (FILEminimizer)I think Cedele standard dropped quite a little. I have close friends complaining to me about a lot of things about them. I guess they face the same problems like all chain outlets brands. Inconsistent service and food quality. Well, you can’t expect every shop to maintain the same service.

But this time, when I join the line of queue at Novena Square, I felt a little off putting to see the staffs screaming at one another and showing their work stress at customers. It was totally uncalled for and if I weren’t lazy, I would have walked all the way down to their other outlet at United Square across the road.IMG_4169 (FILEminimizer)The cakes I bought tasted dull and stale as though they’ve been on the display fridge for one or two days but for the less fussy people, I think Celede is still a decent place to consider. And I will stay clear of the Novena Square shop the next time.
