Cups N Canvas Selegie Road Singapore

DSC_0523.NEF (FILEminimizer)Cups N Canvas- Probably the last thing you would expect walking along Selegie Road. An artsy retro space that serves as a studio for art classes as well as a coffeehouse. I never have like the cafes in and around town. They are mostly expensive if not overpriced so it took me quite a while to check on their price range before dare asking my friend to join me trying out something new.

With your typical brunch costing 20 bucks or more, I think Cups N Canvas is more than reasonable with no GST & Service Charge yet. While I wasn’t blown away by their Eggs Ben-Addict ($14.90) on accounts of the hard bagels underneath my poached eggs, the Breakfast Canvas ($16.90) or more like breakfast galore on show. I love that it’s neat and every inch of the long serving plate is filled with food. It wasn’t exceptionally good but it sure was comforting for brunch.

Be prepared to wait for your food as they are make only upon order. So in the meantime, grab a dessert to share. Mostly cheesecakes were on display but they do have some unique ones like Earl Grey ($7.00) which was very addictive.

DSC_0507.NEF (FILEminimizer)I have mixed feelings about their drinks. On one hand I love the smooth coffee blend from my Cappuccino ($4.80) but on the other, I personally didn’t enjoy the Sweet Potato Latte ($4.80).

I’ve tried weirder things (in my opinion) like celery & carrot juice or green tea latte but the milk and sweet potato concoction just didn’t appeal to me. I’m guessing it’s an acquired taste since my brunch partner loves her drink.

DSC_05035.NEF (FILEminimizer)Overall, I love the vibes of Cups N Canvas. A rather simple cafe with rustic furniture evenly spaced out and still an art canvas filled backdrop that’s pleasant to our HD lens. Service was very approachable while the food although nothing out rightly fantastic, it is well-presented and comforting.

Definitely a nice place I would recommend for a quick bite or a slow brunch meal. On a side note, I wouldn’t mind trying the Sticky Date Shake on my next visit just to try something new.
