I must be the last guy to still talk about this already-so-popular burger joint commonly known by all as EWF. Established by the people who make us (or at least me) go gaga over their Hei ice creams and subsequently set up two cafes under a brand name that involves fries at two ends of this island and still popularise nutella tarts. Do I still need to introduce about them all?
Perhaps not so right?
Just think of this particular EWF as the fast food version of their cafes which omits everything but from burgers and fries. For one, they have more unique combinations that most burger specialty shop has. Take for instance, their har jeong kai burger ($6.90) and char siu burger ($7.90) which you don’t see everywhere are a hit and the best part is you don’t have to pay the hefty bill that often comes with these gourmet sandwiches.
Most of their burgers are priced under $8 but do consider going for the set meals ($9.90) that comes with a reasonable heap of fries of your preferred choice (original, sour cream & onion, garlic, salt & vinegar, curry) and fizzy drinks. Having said that, if you hadn’t tried those two burgers mentioned earlier then I strongly recommend you do so and you won’t regret it unless you’re a picky eater. Just don’t expect exceeding expectation from them. After all, it’s managed like a fast food restaurant. If you really want quality ones, then you should probably be at their restaurant outlets at Holland Village or Katong whichever is closer to your home.
I shall not comment much about the Pork Katsu Sandwich ($6.90) since I didn’t get to sink my teeth in. I reckon the good old classic Bacon Cheese Omelette Burger ($6.90) would do more than just suffice though it does get messy especially when piping hot cheese drips all over the place!
And really. No trip to EWF would be completed if you forgo ordering their Nutella Tarts. Just look at it. How could you resist chocolate tarts coated in thick luscious nutella?! If I can’t find a good reason to not have one. Can you? Don’t bother trying the rest. They seem too conventional and pales in comparison to this best-selling sweet treat.
I’m the kind of person that don’t believes in fast food. I think there are far more deserving stuffs worth the calories. Having said that, I’m still a mortal and every now and then, I’ll have cravings for burgers and fries. That is when EWF will be on my mind. And if they stick to their price ranges, I certainly wouldn’t mind coming back time and time again.
