I doubt I still need to reintroduce you to this Gelato shop at Bedok 85 again. My many visits here might be a telltale sign just how much I enjoy their cold treat too! While most cafes would be closing for the day by seven or eight in the evening, the same can’t be said for at Milk & Honey!I was here on a Saturday night (9pm sharp) and gosh! Would you just look at the crowd?! Tables were grappled as soon as they were cleared of the mess and a long queue lining by the counter. Not to mention that constant olfactory pleasure of waffles in the making.
It’s the kind of scene you least expect from a heartlander cafe right?Unlike all my previous visit, this time I was invited here to try something new and never seen before. Heard of ice cream cake eh? How about having a slice of Gelato Cake instead? They come in a few flavours, mostly familiar taste which you might have sampled at the front counter before.
I personally preferred the intense chocolaty (Milo flavour) with torched mashmallows all over it. It wasn’t excessively sweet and like all their artisan gelato, it taste just like the real deal. Think of this as a iced milo dinosaur in the form of a cake.
My only misgiving was how un-photogenic this “cake” was but hey! As Clarence (the owner behind Milk & Honey) likes to put it: It’s still in beta mode and definitely will see better improvement after a few feedbacks from me right?Fans of sticky date puddings would be delighted to know that they are experimenting with their own variation too! I felt there could be more butterscotch sauce drizzled in and all over my new found favourite flavour – Peanut Butter & Banana Gelato.
It’s a personal preference but I’ve tried many places and I always have the impression that a good pudding is always that’s fully drenched in sweet butterscotch sauce! They are also experimenting with alcoholic gelato like Red Wine & Berries to suit those who fancy liquor in their cold treats. I wished I could sample all their gelatos at one go but really. Once you have savour their Mao Shan Wang, you can’t wash down the durian taste and still say you could enjoy the rest properly. But here’s my top-must try gelato:Overall, Milk & Honey is one promising place to fall back on if you’re looking for a late night place to meet up friends and family. I mean not many cafes in Singapore will stay till 1am and you could still enjoy a nice warm waffle to share with right?
It’s not exactly a spacious cafe but I’m sure nobody would mind squeezing a five or six seats in one table. So perhaps they might wanna consider expansion but I hope they won’t move out of Bedok 85. That will be a great loss for people like me, staying within cycling distance.
PS: I still haven’t try their waffles yet so I shall keep my comments to myself for the time being! I shall come return soon!
