Refuel Cafe Bedok Reservoir Road Singapore

IMG_4108 (FILEminimizer)I know I’m not the most up to date blogger in Singapore but I found a new cafe opening its door at Bedok Reservoir Road. The place is Refuel Cafe and if have no idea which ends of the Reservoir road it’s located at, try keeping a lookout for Sheng Siong Supermarket. You can’t missed it and the cafe is perhaps three blocks away from the building.

Refuel Cafe isn’t very big like the current premises of Together Cafe over at Bedok North but at least I didn’t felt constraint on my first visit. The tables were spaced out while interior deco were kept rustic and minimal. I went on a Sunday morning and already the cafe was three-quarter full. Apparently they accept reservations because I could not get the slightly more comfortable table and have to settle for a low table.IMG_4117 (FILEminimizer)I suppose their rental aren’t as high as those cafes found at Tiong Bahru. You could still grab a hearty breakfast under $10.00 like Fuel ME Up ($9.50) which comprises of the standard brunch food. Their pancakes could be another alternative. I tried their BANANA Pancakes ($9.50) and the ripe mashed bananas with batter within worked fine for me. They weren’t as round and presentable as I thought they should be but one bite dispelled all my doubts. Sweet and fluffy just the way I expect all my pancakes to be served.

The scrambled eggs that came along was in my opinion, too common and nothing fanatic. Maybe they should experiment with something that could complete a full pancake meal?IMG_4129 (FILEminimizer)Full Tank ($13.90) was the Refuel Cafe’s way of saying Here’s out scrumptious full course standard breakfast! Nothing beats having the best of everything served on huge plate. Surely, one might say I could cooked that at home but let’s be honest. We are all lazy city people who just don’t like wake too early on Sundays just to mess up our kitchen.

Cappuccino (Small, $4.50)

Toast, sausage, sautéed mushrooms, cherry tomatoes, (boring) salad, scrambled eggs and a serving of baked beans. I think Refuel will do just fine with all their brunch menu although it would be better if they could come up with something new just to stand out from the already saturated cafe industry.

I did not get the chance to try their mains on my first visit since they are only available after 5pm. Service was prompt and attentive and the tables were cleared almost immediately. I daresay I will come back again probably during dinner hours or even just pop by here for a drink because of that. And kudos to them because they have my favourite Rootbeer float!

There isn’t a lot of online reviews as of now. I hope this will be one of them. I also wish they update their facebook page a little more often. Afterall, Refuel Cafe is still relatively new and I’m sure first timers would want more information before visiting a new place.
