Duxton Hill and its vicinity has always been my favourite place to eat out in Singapore. I could spend my whole afternoon visiting my favourite cafes, checking out the latest restaurants and bars installation within the area. I could even do a little exploring along the other hipster streets near the foodie enclave too!

The only misgiving I have for Duxton Hill is perhaps the travelling distance from my house at Tampines! Ohh how I wished I could just stay somewhere near the area like Chinatown or Outram Park where I could just cross the street and ponder what’s for brunch or dinner along the way. Maybe one day I will be able to live the dream but on my previous visit to the hill, my dinner partner and I managed to visit the burger specialty cafe, Two Blur Guys.

This 24 seater bistro might be compact and small with almost little room to fit a large crowd. But the same can’t be said about their food! I was definitely taken aback when I saw the prices on their menu. I mean where else could you find burgers under 20 bucks in town area?! My last burger lunch was no doubt gratifying but I bet serious connoisseurs would rather visit this eatery given the same quality at a more affordable price.

Take their Prime Beef Burger ($13.95) for instance. Which is only assemble upon ordering and you will know it’s your order when you take a deep whiff of charred beef patty emitted from all the searing. And when the dish finally comes, you just can’t wait to sink your teeth into the piping hot burger. Unless you’re a food photographer who is passionate about doing justice to good food, I suggest you just start chomping! Smoked Salmon Burger ($11.20) did not appeal to me as much as it did on my friend. Visually it might be burger, but avocado and smoked salmon seemed like what I would opt for as my sandwich fillings. I’m not saying their rendition is bad or no good but it just didn’t appeal to me as much as pulled pork or grilled beef.

Anyway, there was really nothing much to find fault given their generous servings of smoked salmon and side dishes. Their food prices might have gone up a bit since their inception, I still think this is one of the more affordable place to have your comfort food. If you haven’t tried this burger joint then this is one of those places I strongly recommend you to go!
